Incredible India. The government of India's ingenious advertisement campaign to promote tourism to India. Some of us agree with that description. Some of us don't. Why is India incredible? Well we have the world's biggest population, we have the largest number of graduates and scientists, we have one of the fastest growing economies, we are the world's biggest democracy, we are a huge beautiful country that is the home of the Taj Mahal and the Ajanta caves and Sarnat and Konark. At least that is what most people think..
India indeed is incredible. India is the greatest country that ever existed on the face of this earth. And that greatness comes not from the Taj Mahal, not from Harappa and the Indus valley, our true greatness comes from something that no one is paying any attention to. India is the world's most Free country. The average Indian enjoys more rights in India than the proudest richest most powerful American in America. In India we have rights that most people cant even dream of in so called 'free' countries like America.
Why all this talk about Freedom in India? Because, we have something precious here in India. We have real freedom, real rights here unlike the pathetic symbolic rights that Americans enjoy. We celebrate freedom the way God intended it. And it is our duty to ourselves and to future generations to defend that freedom.
I know this description is confusing to the average person who wants to go to America rather than heaven when he dies. America where there is big clean roads, no corrupt babus, no hartals and where the schools are so brilliant and produce inventors and scientists.
Our media is one of the best in the world. That is something that is very obvious if we compare an Indian newspaper and an American newspaper side by side. But one thing that our media lacks is insight into how well we compare against other countries. The American media on the other hand is constantly pushing America's 'image' abroad, an image which is mostly imagined than real, while our media is so modest about our country.
Let us look at a simple example that illustrates the extent of freedom that we have in India. And I would challenge any American 'freedomer' to prove me wrong. Let us imagine you have a 6 year old child. He goes to school in India. He gets a bit restless in school. He throws his shoe at a school window accidentally and breaks it. The teacher gets her cane, he gets a whack on his palm with it, and his parents get a note from the teacher. The parents give him a good scolding and a whack with a stick. End of the story. The kid grows up, he is happy, healthy of mind and body and soul, he loves his teachers, he loves his parents, he becomes a good useful normal member of society, life goes on. Now let us rewind the tape, and change the story a bit. The kid, unfortunately for him, is born in America. He goes to an American school. One morning, he says he wants to color his hair green. His gung-ho dad says, "why not, son?!" So off he goes to school with green hair. The school objects to a green haired freak running wild on school grounds. His Dad is outraged. "This is a free country", he yells as he slams his fist on the table. "This is America!" He dials his lawyer. Next day it is national news, family sues school because they interfered with child's right to self expression. The school gets sued for 40 million dollars as compensation for mental anguish (ha ha) and pain and suffering and discrimination (ha ha ha). The school is scared out of its wits. They let the kid come to school with green hair and African braids and what not. America savours this sweet example of how much 'freedom' they have. Symbolic freedom , how America loves it! And then…. One day the kid throws a shoe accidentally at a window and breaks it. Hmm. Giving him a whack with a cane is illegal in 'ethical, free, conscientious (who made up such a ******* word?) America. But the school policeman has something legal and ethical to use on him, handcuffs and a stun gun to restrain him . How many people in India know that schools in America have police officers with guns and stun guns? Hmm..more 'ethical' and 'acceptable' and 'conscientious' stuff follows. The school also has a psychiatrist on staff. Unheard of in free countries like India! The psychiatrist comes and looks the kid up and down and shows him some inkblots and asks him about sexual abuse and other all-American topics. Finally the kid is granted two or three different psychiatric diagnoses, and his parents are ordered to administer the psychiatric drugs to 'make him normal'. The parents are outraged. They say 'No way!!'. The American 'doing the right thing' machine now kicks in. Criminal charges are filed against the parent for 'breaking the law of the land' (some laws are intrinsically illegal, such illegal laws would never be followed in Free countries like India). Next thing you know, the kid's parents are officially criminals. The father loses the little job that he had at Walmart, because Walmart being a good corporate employer does not hire criminals and felons and certainly not child-abusing parents who wont give proper medicines to their children (ha ha!) Now the family cannot pay the rent. The landlord does the 'right thing' and what 'Jesus would have done' and kicks them out. Now they are homeless. Now the 'social security' department starts their part of the drama. Hmm homeless parents cannot afford to keep kids. "We want to make sure your kids are ok". The kids are forcibly taken from the parents and sent off to someone else's homes to live there. That family, a family made up of a father, mother and child has been transformed overnight into ashes, that is the magic of 'American Freedom'. And that is what we should know about America to understand how India compares to America. We have the most Free country on God's earth. Even the poorest, most humble Indian has more REAL RIGHTS in India than even an American senator. What Americans have are a lot of high profile symbolic rights such as the right to color their hair green. These are the kind of clownish rights that receive a lot of press, and the world sighs and croons, 'Oh America the Free… home of the brave and free…..'.
India is incredible because we are the most FREE COUNTRY on the face of this earth. That is our claim to greatness, that is what defines our great country. And one day the world will understand that, and even more important, every Indian will understand that, and value what we have here in our great land. Now why am I talking about how precious our land is? Because when we have something so precious as what we have in our Glorious India, we also need to have the means to defend it. I am talking about the nuclear treaty and how it could threaten our freedom and our way of life. Before we get to that, let us talk a little bit of world history.
Long long ago, there was a civilization that existed in the plains of Europe. These people used stone weapons. They were prosperous, they enjoyed life. They had their families, their children ,their humble but happy homes. Then something else happened. Another civilization appeared that had bronze weapons. The stone weapons were no match for bronze weapons. The societies that relied on stone weapons disappeared gradually as warriors wielding bronze weapons took their women, their homes and their children. The cycle of time continued. Another civilization emerged, they discovered iron weapons. The bronze swords crumbled when faced with iron axes and spears. Entire societies and towns passed into the mists of time as conquerors came marauding. The people armed with bronze weapons looked on helplessly as the conquerors took everything. Thousands were slaughtered, the rest castrated and enslaved while their families were sold into slavery. No one helped them. Not even God. God helps who ever has the most modern weapons. Today we are past the stone age, the bronze age and the iron age. We experienced the rifle age where our warriors tried to face rifle wielding British redcoats with our valiant swords. We lost our country for 200 years, the valor of our soldiers did not avail them anything as iron weapons were overwhelmed by the power of gunpowder.
This is the nuclear age. The only weapon that is worth having is nuclear weapons. Nothing else will make a difference if there is an impending invasion. Let us analyze the case of Iraq. Iraq and Iran and the other Arab countries , just like the rest of the world had a 60 year window of time to do something about their destinies. 60 years of Soviet peace where the might of the Soviet Empire kept at bay all adventuring armies. The Arabs spent those 60 years incessantly fighting among themselves. And while they were not fighting one another, they spent the rest of their time spewing mind-less hatred against Israel, forgetting that after all the Israelis are their own kin. History is like a series of windows. These windows of opportunity open, and then they close. Once they close, they never open again. India and China wisely used those 60 years to grow militarily and economically. Now, the window has finally closed for the Arabs. They had 60 precious years to make something of themselves. With a little bit of brain activity they could have been the world's dominant superpower. Instead they are today the bombing ground of the world, the shooting range of the world, where great powers test out their bombers and artillery. They spent 60 years yapping about the Soviet threat and the danger of communism, while the real danger came from thousands of miles away. And to add to the mess they have nurtured the most vicious and self-damaging version of religious fanaticism. A brand of fanaticism that is so vicious it already defeats them as a civilization by enslaving half the population of their own country. By enslaving the women of their country, and keeping them illiterate, dumb and useless, they have already destroyed the future of the children that these women bring up. And how many brilliant scientists and leaders would have emerged from these millions and millions of women, enslaved by their own countries. It makes it much easier for any would-be conqueror. They only have to enslave 50% of the country, the other half is already living in slavery. History has bypassed the Arab world. Never will an Arab country hold a nuclear weapon in its hands. Mindless hatred, division and a total lack of thinking has defeated them. Without nuclear weapons, they are totally disarmed. Other weapons don't count, just like stone weapons did not count in the bronze age, and bronze weapons did not count in the iron age. This is the nuclear age from a weapons stand point, you are either nuclear or you are unarmed. There is no third option for national defense.
The countries of the world are being divided today into the nuclear armed world and the unarmed world. By the grace of God, we are today a nuclear country. A country capable of striking down any would-be invader. But there are many who tirelessly try to disarm us. The smiles and handshakes will be there only as long as we hold our nuclear sword. The moment we lay down the nuclear sword, they will decide our destiny. Not just our destiny. They will decide the destiny of a million future generations.
America has 'centers of study' dedicated to analyzing and studying each and every country on earth. These money-sucking institutes don't exist for the purpose of studying the lion-tailed monkey or the dodo-bird. They study the weaknesses of each country systematically. They view each country on this earth as a potential American province. Remember how America grew from 13 states to 50 states. The red Indians who owned all of north America gave it up, piece by piece for any reason or no reason. The area which we call New York today was sold by the local red Indian chief to the American settlers in return for a bead necklace. The most expensive bead necklace in the history of mankind! Today they seek the same luck in negotiations with India. They want us to give up the nuclear sword, in return for whatever. Newspapers exult that if we give up our nuclear sword the Americans will give us F-16s !! wow! Such generosity. Would you sell your house to your neighbor to buy firewood ? It would be better to starve and freeze. Talking about F-16s, do our experts stop to think, in the event of any impending attack, foreign sellers can easily inactivate these aircraft remotely.
It does not do any good that current generations of red Indians wonder why their forefathers lost the continent of North America. And it wont do any good when future generations of Indians wonder why their forefathers gave up the only weapon that can protect the honor and freedom of our land. But they will learn in the school the fateful year when India signed away its national safety.
The nuclear treaty is not a mistake. A mistake can be defined as something that can be corrected. A disaster is what cannot be corrected. If we sign this treaty we are signing away everything that we have gained at a tremendous price. This is not the 17 century, where countries get to make mistakes and still recovered from conquests and subjugation.
If we are subjugated this time, we will never recover from it.
The Anglo-American empire has learnt from the mistakes it made with the last empire. There are many at the heart of the empire , which many in America call the 'invisible empire' who analyze and re-analyze how the British empire was lost. And they are ruthlessly determined that the next empire which they dream of and relentlessly pursue today will never go down. This time around, neither another Gandhi nor any freedom struggle will make a difference. The new empire aside from being more ruthless and inhuman is also different in that it is invisible in everyday life. Unlike the ubiquitous union jack of the Raj days, the new AngloAmerican empire prudently avoids any such provocative symbols that 'hurt the feelings' of subjugated people. There is no western flags flying in Iraq today. There is no viceroy ruling over Iraq. Iraq has its own 'elected government' and its own 'national flag' and even a stylish new 'national flag'. All that is missing is the Iraqi nation, which does not exist anymore, all that is left is the people of Iraq enslaved for eternity, while even their country is being plundered. The foreign oil rigs sinking deep into the body of Iraq is symbolic of the depth of humiliation and enslavement and subjugation. A foreign controlled 'free' media yaps constantly about the amazing new Iraq. The new Empire is invisible. They rule without calling themselves the rulers, the conquer country after country without any dramatic victory cries or statements of conquest. But the fact that it is invisible does not mean it is weak. It has arms of steel that can today crush most nations within a matter of days. The empire today has mastered the almost zen-like art of denying the existence and growth of the empire. The empire today no longer talks of colonizing the orient, or civilizing the savages. They talk of regime-change, they talk of re-construction, they talk of disarmament, they talk of human rights, they talk of democracy. They talk of sovereignty and freedom when they mention countries where they maintain thousands of occupation troops. Indeed the best way to keep a slave as a slave forever is to call him a free man. If you call him a slave, he may rebel. The country of Iraq is a case in point. Once an ancient civilization, then a country torn by medieval religious barbarity and then mindless aggression against its own kith and kin in neighboring countries. Now reduced to a castrated eunuch, directionless, lacking will or destiny, resigned to be led on a leash till the end of this earth. Iraq has achieved eternal slavery out of which it will never climb, it does not matter how many colorful 'sovereign' flags it has flying, it is today, like its hapless citizens in Abu Gharaib, a mere helpless animal on a leash, while conquerors hold the loot, and much more.
The most powerful nations on earth have banded themselves into aggressive alliances, willing to invade, willing and able to conquer. While there is other nations, still talking delusionally about disarmament and peace, still standing alone, totally alone, with not an ally in the world. Still nations disputing over petty boundary fence disputes, while the conquerors rove the seas around them, the way the Vikings roved the northern seas while deciding which lonely English village to loot burn and rape.
Do you really want a nuclear free world? It was nuclear weapons which maintained world peace for 60 years. 60 glorious years of peace where Soviet power maintained world peace. There were many countries that danced in the streets and celebrated and fired guns in the air when the Soviet Union fell. The fall of godless communism. Indeed! Not many of these so called world leaders realize how the mere presence of Soviet power acted as a brake on reckless worldwide American invasions. There has been more war and destruction in the last 10 years than in the preceding 60 years. Entire countries, all the way from Europe to the middle east to Africa have been devastated by internal and external wars. Strong stable secular powers like Yugoslavia have been broken into bits and pieces, each piece offered the carrot of 'sovereignty. And once the country has been reduced to rubble, both on the map and on the streets, then comes the next stage, absorbing each one of these helpless worthless self-styled 'republics' into the American empire. The same mindless mobs that were screaming themselves into ecstasy as their little worthless towns were declared 'republics' are quiet as one by one their newly created 'countries' cease to exist except for the presence of a national anthem and a national flag and a bus stand.
Let us not be blind to the fact that many western strategists view the Yugoslavia victory as a case study on how India could be conquered. The tactics of divide and destroy has proven itself time and again that conquest is possible in any country. The concept of world conquest is openly talked about now in many circles in America. The disarm-divide-destroy formula has worked wonders in every country that it has been tried on.
Let us be honest and open and discuss why India has not been invaded by the western empire for the last 60 years. It was not because we were 'non-aligned'. It was not because we were peace-loving. It was first of all because the western empire was busy with a lot of other things. Most of their time and energy and resources were occupied in the staring match with the soviet union. A campaign against India would have brought out a Soviet military response against the invaders as was hinted at by leaders like Breshnev. And on top of all that, we have been a nuclear power, quiet, low profile, but a nuclear power is a nuclear power.
What exactly is the significance of us having a powerful nuclear strike force with global reach? To understand why we must prioritize and advance at all costs our nuclear military capabilities, we need to step back in history. Oh if only all of our parliamentarians would read about the history of the world.. the nuclear deal would not even be on the table, it would be where it deserves to be, in the garbage bin outside parliament house.
Wake up and realize, we are a target. Repeat that to yourself before you even think of signing anything. We are a target. We are a prize. We are a trophy. And there are powerful countries that have banded themselves together into aggressive alliances while we stand totally alone. Why cant our leaders realize the horror of the situation? We stand alone. Even today. We are all alone. We have a foreign service that employs more people than the army, we have thinkers and strategists and wisemen and chanakyas. But while the greatest military powers on earth group themselves into alliances that defend each other, we stand totally alone. Yes we talk about how Russia is our 'old and trusted friend' and how Israel is our 'natural ally' etc. What exactly does that mean? When American bombers take off from airfields in Turkey and Singapore and Seychelles and head for the skies of our Hindustan, will any of these 'friends' of ours raise a finger to help? Will they give us advance warning of the impending air-raids? Will their missile batteries bring down the incoming invaders? Hindustan does not need 'friends' who will drink beer with us on 'world peace' parties where we put on display tribal dancers. We need allies who have common strategic interests, we need allies who don't fantasize about colonizing us. We need allies who will fight alongside us if we are attacked. Do we have even one ally? No!
Over the last two decades we have signed dozens if not hundreds of international agreements that probably used up more paper than fifty schools in India. Who creates these agreements? And for whom are these agreements meant for? Who does it benefit?
Most of these treaties are made up by some kind of 'world' body or 'international' organization. When in reality each one of these so called international organizations, including the UN are nothing more than little 'made-in-USA' companies which have an office in New York and a blonde front desk receptionist and a phone book that has phone numbers of prime ministers and presidents around the world. We are a country of one billion people. Let us clarify that further. We are a country of 1000000000 people. We should be creating these treaties according to what we need and they trying to get the world to sign them , instead of sending fifty delegates each time one of these one-room 'world' organizations in New York blows its dog-whistle. And what kind of treaties do we need?
First of all, think about how the Americans are playing the international chess game. Russia wont sell us fuel, supposedly because they signed a piece of paper that says they wont give uranium to countries that haven't signed the NPT. America wont sell us fuel because a nuclear armed India is very hard to invade. Japan won't sell us some items because Japan is 'peace loving' and our nuclear ambitions give them peptic ulcer supposedly. If America slaps sanctions on us tomorrow, an oil blockade or computer parts export ban or a ban on business out-sourcing to India, there is a hundred little address-less countries that will jump on the bandwagon, flash their happy little smiles at the UN and say 'Me vote too. Bad India stop nukes now. Me love Bush, he sent me new pepsi machine'. And remember, it is not just India that gets hit with sanctions. America wields the sanctions sword with dexterity against all countries, but ONE AT A TIME. And each time a country is a target, all the rest of the countries rush over like little monkeys to hold down the latest victim and help the master thrash him. Witness the Iraq castration party. How many little countries rushed over with their 'contributions'. Yes the contributions were mostly symbolic, like sending a pathetic traffic policeman or a basket of bananas or maybe some scared soldiers. But the bottom line is, they participated in the rape of a country that had never ever harmed them. And deep in their hearts every third world country that supported the Iraq invasion knows that their turn will come, it is only a question of time.
So keeping in view the sanctions game, how about an Indian led international treaty that would prevent participating countries from ever joining any kind of sanctions against a member country? A no-sanctions treaty. How about something like that? Something that would genuinely enhance our position in the world and increase our power.
How about another treaty? A treaty with the Russians that would give us access to Uranium in return for a military alliance which would involve us actively participating in defending Russia against all threats from the Indian Ocean region. Want something bolder? How about an Indo-Russian-Chinese alliance that could sell security to other countries? Some type of invasion insurance , if you want to call it that. A Russia-China-India pyramid alliance would be more than capable of keeping peace and deterring invasion in most parts of the world. How many billions would the countries of the world be willing to pay for security? No longer would any of the alliance countries have to worry about military expenditure. The military will pay for itself with such a venture if well planned and executed courageously. Many countries will be willing to pay 5-10% of their GDP for protection against foreign invasion. Such an alliance would have to focus on the big picture, instead of on a petty border fence. If we fight over every cow that grazes at the border fence, our countries will end up with neither fence nor cow nor country. While worrying about the fence, also look up and see the vultures circling overhead, waiting for the opportunity to strike.
While we are on the topic of national security and global power, something else deserves mention. We cannot be and will not be a global military power if we keep the private sector out of the defence industry. Corporate giants like Tata, Reliance etc are more important to our global military destiny than buying refurbished air-craft carriers. Let these companies apply their incredible assets to building our military power. Let them invest in defence production and research facilities. It will yield richer rewards than buying used factories and vineyards in some foreign country, where there is no guarantee of future ownership. And don't grudge them their rewards. They are Hindustan's own, their success is our country's success. And sit back and watch as they build our fighters and submarines and aircraft carriers. That is what will make us a global power. Not by buying some fancy flying machine from the Americans, which they can inactivate or disable electronically in the event of any conflict.
What is it that has made America so powerful? Two things. First, an economy that is built on innovation and invention, where thousands of Americans are constantly inventing new things, these may be something as trivial as a flexible drinking straw (not so trivial if you count the millions of dollars it made for the inventor) or something as advanced as miniaturized multiple reentry nuclear warhead. This spirit of innovation comes from an educational system that has focused on teaching children how to think instead of how to memorize. While we train 'programmers' they train people who create the programming languages that we try to program with. The second thing that makes America powerful is the way in which they have actively used their military overseas, fearlessly , recklessly but at the same time carefully creating military alliances everywhere. The magic of the American military strategy is evident when we see countries who have ancient enemities with each other like Serbia and Bosnia or Greece and Turkey or Saudi Arabia and Israel who hate each other still willing to come together and fight under American command against America's enemies. But before we venture into something on those lines, we need a nuclear strike force with global reach and enough warheads to reach any enemy anywhere, on land, earth, sky or space. If you have noticed, America doesn't fight with nukes. The nukes are used as a shield, while the invasions are all using conventional forces. The nukes convince each potential victim that it is their destiny to lose, indeed their peace-loving duty to lose quietly and merge into the shadows as the empire marches on.
We talked about military treaties with Russia and China. To make that possible we need to understand that they have their global ambitions. What is it that these countries get from America that makes them withhold technology and nuclear fuel from us? And what is it that we can give them that would be sufficient to overcome whatever incentive the Americans are giving them to cooperate against us? Another angle that we are not giving any attention to is the fact that in the last 100 years, we have done absolutely nothing to influence public opinion in China, most Chinese don't even know what India or Indians look like or sound like, they have never heard Hindi. And that, from a diplomatic-military standpoint, is pathetic. That is 100 years of opportunity wasted. Our colleges offer German and French to students. How many Indian colleges offer Chinese as a subject? We cannot get China on our side unless we influence public opinion in China.
Many of us think of India and China as two huge countries. Not everyone thinks like that though. The strategists of the west see our two countries the same way the East India company saw the little kingdoms of India that they so skillfully outmaneuvered and conquered and ruled for 200 years. Influencing the Chinese people and thus the Chinese government should be foreign policy priority. We cannot become a superpower without China on our side. It is as simple as that. Even America with all its military might carefully nurtures the military alliance with Western Europe, Canada and Australia, the common link being race and blood. We don't have a common race or language or blood with the Chinese, but we have religious and cultural ties that are just as handy and can be easily built up to a level where the average Chinese feels enough kinship for India. Listen up Bollywood here is your big chance to contribute to building our destiny as a global power.
Notwithstanding the fact that America imports everything from China including American flags, America still sent ships into the South China sea with the threat of 'defending' Taiwan against China. Taiwan being a rebel province of China. Imagine the scenario where America sends ships to the Gujarat coast to 'defend' Pakistan against India. What would our military leaders do? Would they dare to launch Brahmos against the American ships? Re-think that scenario, where India and China stand together, where there is enough cultural affinity built up, where there is enough common military and economic interests where we have a treaty that says we will defend our countries together against any enemy anywhere. Would a foreign ship even dare threaten our coast? The combined nuclear arsenal of India and China alone would be enough to balance out the rest of the world.
Do not forget that the middle east is being re-shaped. Thanks to Gorbachev's untreated insanity, Russia is busy catching its breath, and America is using these few precious years to re-shape the middle east. Within the next 3 years, from Syria to Pakistan will be one province under American command, and it will encompass Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Oh yes they will be allowed to keep their 'national' flags and their 'presidents' and their 'elections' and their 'sovereignty'. The frontier will then be at our border. The Americans will stand at our western border, the way Alexander's Macedonian looters stood centuries back. They will then begin to take a close interest in 'democracy' and 'religious freedom' and 'childrens rights' and 'gay rights' in Rajasthan. They will come up with 'laws' even more dramatic than what Dalhousie brought up. By then it will be too late, especially if we give up our nuclear weapons now.
There is a time to talk about world peace and disarmament and no-nukes. That time is not now. This is the time to build our defenses. This is the time to build our arsenal, this is the time to seriously prepare for the defense of Fortress India. And that does not mean adding more border guards to shoot at the pathetic Pakistanis. That means speeding up our missile program, speeding up our nuclear program, bringing in private capital into the defence field, building our own nuclear submarines and strategic bombers. That means building REAL defence ties with other countries which means treaties that will make sure other countries will fight alongside us. That means that we find allies who will participate in defending us if enemy bombers are headed towards our skies. A bomber aircraft that approaches Mumbai from the west should be shot down by fighter aircraft based in the Maldives. The missile that approaches Delhi from Turkey should be shot down over Uzbekstan. That is real foreign policy. That is power. That will be an Indian Century.
This article is dedicated to the memory of Subhash Chandra Bose and all the patriots of the INA who made the ultimate sacrifice for the honour of Hindustan at a time when there was no hope on the horizon, and the only foreign leader who supported our freedom fighters was Adolf Hitler who put rifles in their hands and Waffen SS badges on their sleeves. Leaders of India, before you sign, ask yourself, "Would Netaji have agreed to this treaty?"
The past is the shadow of the future. And the past, once forgotten will happen again.
